Issues from the Past.
Unexpected obstacles in the Present.
Fears for the Future.
These can all throw us off course, leaving us overwhelmed, sad, isolated, anxious, angry
or just plain stuck!
Counselling offers a safe, confidential space where you can explore a difficulty, distress, dissatisfaction or loss of direction and purpose. My aim is to support you towards feeling more fully resourced, so you can live in an authentic way and experience life as more satisfying.
Sometimes our thoughts and feelings can be so confused that we just don't know where to start. Well-meaning friends and family want to help, but we can't find the words, or maybe it feels too personal to share with them. When we do open up then perhaps we get unwanted advice, or we see them worry and treat us differently, which just makes it worse.

By contrast, I offer a place where you can talk through your thoughts, feelings, and issues, with a supportive professional who is trained to listen and understand. We can then work together to discover new perspectives, try new strategies or explore new ways of coping to help you move towards the person you want to be and the life you want to live.

Whether I am working with adults or young people, the foundation of my work is Person Centred, with non-judgemental listening, respect, honesty and good humour at its heart. I believe that within each of us there exists a positive drive towards growth physically, emotionally, psychologically, intellectually and spiritually. My aim is to provide an environment of warmth, empathy and understanding which can help that drive within you to flourish.

In my work it is the client who decides what they want to talk about, think about and work on. Our sessions offer a space where you can be curious and step outside your life story long enough to recognise that it might not be fully complete. I am with you on this journey offering support, insights and knowledge, so that you can identify those chapters you would like to understand better or re-write. This is a respectful stance that acknowledges your abilities, rather than seeing myself as the expert in your life, because when we find the answers for ourselves, then they have more meaning, and the results are more long lasting. The first counselling session can seem daunting, however seeking help is sometimes the bravest and strongest thing we can do. Sharing problems within this safe, counselling environment can bring clarity to the situation you are struggling with, and the strength to move through it.
